IS 347, School
of Humanities, Bushwick, Brooklyn Behind the Book has worked with IS 347 since 2005-06. Programs include an eighth grade Fiction-Writing Workshop with Rita Williams-Garcia and a sixth grade Poetry-Writing Workshop. Author/ poet Tony Medina leads a 6th-grade class in a poetry-writing workshop in which students research historic African Americans and write their biographies using the forms of haikus and seven-crown poems.
