Author Zetta Elliot and illustrator Shadra Strickland lead a 4th-grade class in a workshop to write and illustrate their own poetry based on their book Bird.

Random House opened its doors to 4th grade students, who toured the facilities and met with publishing professionals as well as participating in a mock publishing project. Students read two manuscripts and decided, in small groups, which book to publish. They then presented their decisions and reasoning to the class.
