Author Rita Williams-Garcia visited an 8th grade class at JHS 13 to orchestrate a workshop focused on her book, Jumped. The students had read Ms. Williams-Gracia’s book and were prepared to discuss the three protagonists with the author. Each student came up with a playlist of songs that reflected each character’s personality. At the end of her visit, Ms. Williams-Garcia gave the class a writing assignment to complete before her second visit: write and prepare to perform a dialogue between two of Jumped’s main characters.
