Holiday Cheer Galore at the YEB Happy Hour

holiday happy hourOn the evening of Friday, December 11th, crowds gathered at New York Beer Company, a popular midtown bar, for the Behind the Book Young Executive Board’s annual Holiday Happy Hour. As one of two main fundraising events the YEB hosts each year, the party drew more than 80 people, some of whom have been long-time Behind the Book supporters, and others very new to the organization who were inspired by our mission and wanted to learn more.

New York Beer Company has generously hosted the Holiday Happy Hour for the past four years, offering a private back area, complimentary appetizers, and festive holiday decorations for the occasion. Guests enjoyed wine, beer, and a smorgasbord of food including chicken quesadillas, sliders, and mozzarella sticks — all while engaging in lively conversation in the cozy and comfortable pub environment.

After picking up a wristband, guests were invited to purchase a ticket to participate in what the YEB calls a “tricky-tray”, or a play on a raffle where guests could enter as many tickets as desired to win their item of choice. Prizes ranged from a Mary Kay gift basket, Taylormade golf clubs, and an Equinox gym membership to courtside Knicks tickets and a Coach bag. The raffle brought an amiable competitive energy and over $1,000 for Behind the Book.

Thank you to all who donated to make this event successful including 305 Fitness, Avon, Bonobos, Buffalo Bills, Coach, Equinox, GCS & Co, LLC, Godiva, Historic Hudson Valley, Ian Wooley, J.H.
