Reader's Digest Make it Matter Day

On Sunday, Octobert 4th 2009, Behind the Book participated in Reader's Digest National Make it Matter Day at the New York Public Library. We hosted a reading by author and illustrator Paulette Bogan. Bogan read from her book, Chicks and Salsa and led an illustration workshop for young children. Other presenters at the event included, Academy award winning actress, Julianne Moore and Between the Lions, the award-winning PBS children's series.

The mission of Behind the Book is to excite children and young adults about reading. Working with low-income students in New York City’s K-12 public schools, Behind the Book brings authors and their books into individual classrooms to build literacy skills and nurture a new generation of book readers.
