Visit 1: December 11, 2009

Two 8th grade classes read Jumped by 2010  National Book Award Finalist, Rita Williams Garcia.Jumped tells the intertwining stories of three high school girls, written from their alternating points of view. Over the course of two writing workshops, students learned how write authentically from someone else’s point of view. Students explored the first person narrative by considering popular songs that define the personalities of characters, writing potential dialogue between characters and imagining and writing additional scenes that could be in Jumped.
