Marion Nestle, Food Politics: How the Food Industry Influences Nutrition and Health: December 8, 2009.

Marion Nestle is a professor at New York University and the author of Food Politics: How the Food Industry Influences Nutrition and Health. In Food Politics, Ms. Nestle details how the food industry--through lobbying, advertising, and the co-opting of experts--influences our dietary choices to our detriment. Students took it upon themselves to create awareness about the issues raised in the book both at school and the community at large: they created informational posters targeted at their peers based on the book to be displayed around the school; they wrote spoken word poems which they performed at Behind the Book Spoken Word Benefit, and they created a music video that they hope will educate their peers on the issues.
