The New Yorkers - First Annual Book Reading in Central Park
Tuesday, July 17, 2007
- 6:30pm to 8pm

"Thank you SO MUCH for creating that fabulous doggie picnic party reading benefit! I LOVED it! The people were so incredibly nice, and the dogs...what can I say about the dogs? They were good listeners, and beautiful to look at, and so happy with their ice cream. The whole thing was brilliant and I thank you and all the wonderful people who were involved. Hector says, "thank you" for the Frosty Paws! It really was so much fun!" - author Cathy Schine
Behind the Book celebrated its First Annual Book Reading in Central Park with author Cathleen Schine and her dog Hector, a cairn terrier. Cathleen read from her best-selling novel The New Yorkers, a love letter to New Yorkers and their dogs, at Central Park Hill.

Families (and their dogs) came for the reading and Q&A session. The raffle prize winner received a portrait painting of themself & their dog in Central Park by artist Gail Rodney. Dogs enjoyed Frosty Paws, an ice cream made especially for dogs, donated by Edy's Greatest Ice Cream.
